Located between the valley of Nizza and the valley of Tinella on a high hill.
It’s not difficult to imagine, therefore, the landscape drawn by the rows of grape vines and sowed grains, both wheat and feed.
The fortification, which can be seen from below when taking the road that connects Costigliole to Canelli,
has been reconstructed several times following battles which involved the town.
The true and proper castle, already in Roero di Cortanze’s family in the 14th century,
is seen on the north side with the fortress’ 16th century look with its guns and embrasures,
while the rest of the structure, rebuilt at the end of the 17th century, has assumed the traits
of an elegant country manor.
Also of interest is the Parrocchiale di San Martino (Parish of Saint Martin),
which probably dates back to the 12th century.
Enlarged at the end of the 17th century and once again during the 19th century,
it shows the characteristics of Piedmont Baroque.
